Parkour zone swings into action
Pelican Waters now has the region’s first outdoor parkour facility at the master planned community’s new island precinct. The parkour circuit is a central feature of stage one of the large 2ha activity park.
The Finnish designed equipment draws inspiration from urban landscapes to promote creative movement including climbing, jumping, swinging, balancing and vaulting. The course includes state-of-the-art climbing frames, balance rails, platforms and walls.
The parkour sports park is in keeping with Pelican Waters’ philosophy of creating active spaces for all age groups in the community.
The equipment is designed to unleash the inner Ninja Warrior in all of us. It’s a motivation for teenagers to put down electronic devices and engage in some fun outdoor activity. It is also a great meeting place and a way of promoting interaction between generations.
The parkour zone is just one part of the grand Central Park currently under construction at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast where a world-class marina and associated waterfront shopping and dining hub is also being built.
Positioned next to the Parkour will be a custom design basketball and netball court providing opportunities for a wide range of age groups to practice shooting hoops and keep active.
If that sounds all too much and you are looking for something a bit quieter, maybe something that could even be played with a cold drink in the hand, why not have a family game of bocce on the new bocce court.
Other features within the new park will include a large covered BBQ and picnic table plaza raised to overlook the sports field with multi-use goal posts for both rugby league and soccer. Feature lighting sets off the park at night and there is a large carpark.
