Whilst the weather has been against us this week in undertaking the final works for the new residential precinct at Waterside, we have managed to open up the park and a number of roads to the public.
By Thursday afternoon (today), the construction fencing that has surrounded the site for the last 7 months will have been relocated to open most of the new roads and the park. The roads open include:
- Bledisloe Boulevard extension down to Bells Esplanade
- Comet Street
- Severn Place
- Burdekin Place
- Barcoo Lane
The only road that will not be open will be the section of Bells Esplanade road east of the roundabout as indicated on the accompanying plan.
The much anticipated park is open however please note that there is still unfinished elements. The BBQ is not yet in as the manufacturer has not yet completed the work. We will aim to have this done before the end of the school holidays. However, the playground is ready for kids, the shelters are up and furniture installed. There are still some further activities for kids to be put around the kick and throw area as well, and of course still loads of plants to be installed. The water may also not be on as we are still waiting for the local authority signoff so please be aware of this. Hopefully the rain will clear so that you can use the park over the Easter weekend.
We will also be sending out our Pelican View newsletter soon with more information about the park and surrounding precinct and other happenings in Pelican Waters.
From all of us at Pelican Waters, have a Happy and Safe Easter and most importantly enjoy the new park.
